Cap Martin & Roquebrune

Round the corner from Monaco the coast goes quiet again. Cap Martin is a low wooded headland with pines that lean out over the rocks, a footpath along the shore that almost nobody is on, and water that stays clear because there is no river and no sand to stir.

It is the natural second stop on a Monaco day — twenty minutes on, and a different coast. The village of Roquebrune sits above it on the hill, and Menton is another twenty minutes east if the day is running long.
